A diorama always adds that special touch to your model.
While a diorama for a tank can be much time consuming, a dio to display your airplane ca be a much quicker task... a small base reproducing the ground surface and some figures can lead you to astonishing results.
Bob managed to paint the US Navy Carrier Deck Crew by Verlinden in 1/48 scale, doing a wonderful job.
